Black History Month Studenteer intern

We caught up with Studenteer Intern Iyanu to discuss her time with us so far. Iyanu’s project has been surrounding our Black History Month campaign and we have been so grateful for her help and skills in order to make new connections for our organisation and create amazing informative visuals for our social media pages.

Could you please tell everyone reading a little about yourself?

Hi everyone, I’m Iyanu. I study International Development with Economics and I am the Black History Month Campaign Intern here at Studenteer.

What made you apply for the role?

When I saw this opportunity on the Studenteer newsletter, I jumped at the chance to gain skills on this voluntary internship as well as contribute to an important cause especially in October.

What have your main duties been so far?

Throughout this internship, I have reached out to over 15 charities championing issues surrounding black people in the UK ranging from mental health to youth empowerment. I have thoroughly enjoyed this role as I have interacted with people from different backgrounds and improved my social media skills by creating Instagram posts regarding black British history which has been so fun.

What are you currently working on?

I am currently working on some fantastic roles with a few charities and hope to submit the project briefs soon so that we can match our Studenteers to these amazing projects.

Would you recommend a Studenteer Internship to another student looking for experience?

I would definitely recommend getting involved with a voluntary internship at Studenteer! I have gained and improved so many transferable skills whilst working on my project and have received great support from the Studenteer team. Also, collaborating with amazing charities and finding ways to support them has been very rewarding.

Thank you Iyanu for all your hard work! We are loving having you at Studenteer HQ.
