Former Studenteer Stefanie

What made you want to become a Studenteer?

I wanted to gain a professional experience where I can learn and have a little taste of the working world before I jump into it, but I didn’t want to sacrifice too much time because I still have my university to prioritise, so volunteering was the best option! And Studenteer seems like the best place for me because they are really flexible in terms of hours and roles. You could be involved in whichever departments you’re interested in!

What kind of volunteering work did you do?

I was a Charity Engagement Assistant. My work includes liaising with different charities, creating projects briefs, and matching students to the available roles.

How has volunteering affected your other commitments?

Honestly, it hasn’t! Studenteer is super flexible in terms of hours. What I usually do is I just squeeze in a few minutes of my time throughout the day. The tasks aren’t too complicated anyway, so they don’t take too much of your time.

What have you learned from volunteering?

There are a lot, actually! But the most memorable one is teamwork. Being able to figure out how I can work efficiently within a team of different people and personalities, which also happens to be one of my favourite things about Studenteer! Everybody is super welcoming and helpful. We’ve got each other’s backs!

Would you recommend Studenteer to other students or graduates?

YES! I think of volunteering at Studenteer as a playground: you can explore what you like and what you don’t like, expand your network and knowledge, train yourself, work on the skills you want to excel in, while being in an organisation that’s very supportive of your growth as an individual. Not only do they care about you, but also about your future career.

  1. Teamwork is about helping and caring for each other
  2. Explore what you like and don’t like before you jump into the working world
